- This harbor is located on Lake Erie about 12 miles from Kirtland.
- The historic lighthouse that towers over the hill and lake is reminiscent of the almost identical 1825 structure.

Transportation Center for Kirtland Saints
Fairport Harbor's beacon was often a welcome sight to early Church members on-board schooners and steamships. Many immigrants arrived here and then either walked or were transported to Kirtland.
Voyages such as Lucy Mack Smith's journey from Palmyra and the arrival of relatives such as the Prophet's grandmother are recorded in journals.
Many great missionary journeys began here. The full Quorum of the Twelve in 1835 left for their missions from Fairport Harbor. Heber C. Kimball, Orson Hyde, and others also left from this port en route to their missions to England in 1837.
Overlooking the lake is a lighthouse with 76 steps up to the top for a great view. Adjacent to the lighthouse is Lakefront Park. It is open year round from dawn to dusk, and a lifeguard is on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day. $3.00 admission per car is charged, making available a picnic area, barbeque grills, playground, concession stands, and restrooms.
Attached to the lighthouse is a maritime museum, also open from Memorial Day thru Labor Day on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fairport Harbor is located at 301 Huntington Beach Drive.
